Happy Valentine’s Day

Honestly I am more likely celebrate it being Friday the 13th than Valentine’s Day–at least Friday the 13th is interesting and different.  But since I am not a pagan and not the least bit superstitious I don’t really celebrate either.  Once upon a time I did, I longed for someone, anyone, to give me a nice, romantic  Valentine’s Day gift and was always devastated when no one did (even if I got something it never lived up to my romantic aspirations.)

About 4 years ago, maybe more, God dealt with my heart on this issue.  Honestly, there is no way ANYONE or ANYTHING can live up to such romantic twaddle as the world would have us believe and get all caught up in.  And honestly, if it weren’t for the world telling you it was important, would you REALLY care?  We are loved and cherished beyond anything by our Lord and Saviour, and HE never runs out and buys us flowers, chocolates , and a romantic card.  Instead He blesses us with beautiful wildflowrs, incredible sunsets, His wonderful Word, and all sorts of small daily blessings–so many that if we just open our eyes to see we are amazed at His love for us.

And so, nowadays instead of moping about not getting a gift I don’t really care about on a designated day that I don’t really care about, I realize how blessed I am to have a husband who loves me every single day and shows it, and a God who loves me even more than my husband, and who goes out of the way to show me every single day.  And I challenge you to do the same.  Even if you don’t have a great relationship if you are a child of God then you are LOVED.   I challenge you to find women in your life who have no one, who struggle, who need to know that they are loved, and go out of your way to show them your (and God’s) love for them.

And I offer you a Valentine’s Card just from me to each of you, and offer it to you to share with whom ever you feel needs to know that they too are loved.

Sunday Praise Doodles: Children

A doodle of Essie from a picture of Essie I caught yesterday.  (She rolls her eyes a lot.  She is 8.5. :))  I wanted to use the following verse for this weeks.

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Psalm127:3-5

But Rachel saw the painting and insisted that the one that follows was much more appropriate. 🙂

6 Train  a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Proverbs 22:6

I’ll let you decide. 🙂  Which do you think is more suited, or do you have a better idea?

What I Have Learned about God from Unschooling

God is everywhere working all around us, just as learning is everywhere, and with both all we have to do is open our eyes to see so we can join in.

When God really wants us to learn something He speaks to us through our circumstances exactly where we are.

Living for Him and loving His people should be our lifestyle just as learning should be a lifestyle.

Opportunities to learn and to know God better are everywhere, not just in traditional settings.

Photo: Rachel also sits in the shade and draws.

In fact, those times when we are learning outside of traditional settings tend to be those where we learn and grow the most.

Found while out walking.

Expect the unexpected and don’t be surprised when God shows up.

It is amazing the learning and growing that God has provided through living life to the fullest, finding joy in His creation, and reading about Him from His Word.  I am so thankful for the numerous opportunities He provides us to learn and grow in wisdom and understanding and in getting to know Him better.  God is GOOD!

Thankful Thursday

Right now words are eluding me so you will just be getting factual sorts. I am still reading all your posts but have very few words to spare. I am also a bit behind on my doodles. I have ideas but my pencil does not seem to be flowing so I am just waiting. I am feeling very content and quiet so am just reading. I am content with all that God has done. God is good.

The first day of spring. What an incredible blessing. we are heading to Grandma’s where the kids will get a bounty of springtime gifts and a new outfit each. God is good.
